​Emma Almquist, M.S. College Counseling & Student Development, MFT


Emma (she/her) enjoys facilitating supportive environments for clients to explore their social
identities, lived experiences, questions and values without judgment. Emma utilizes person
centered therapy techniques and a non-directive collaborative approach in working with clients.
Emma is genuine, warm and open to meeting clients where they are and collaborates with
clients to help them identify their goals for therapy.


Emma has over a decade of experience working in higher education with emerging adult college
students and enjoys working with individual adults and couples. Emma delivered treatment in
community mental health clinics and supported both couples and individuals with a wide variety
of challenges such as: depression, anxiety, spiritual trauma, PTSD, ADHD, sexuality and
gender, racial and ethnic identity development, life transitions and grief.


Emma utilizes a trauma-informed lens and integrates modalities such as EMDR, Internal Family
Systems (IFS) and Solution Focused Therapy with individual clients. Emma uses therapeutic
interventions in session to help clients connect more presently with their bodies and uses a
holistic approach in supporting clients on their healing journey.


Emma also specializes in working with couples and utilizes the Gottman Method Couples
Therapy model which helps couples improve communication skills, increase intimacy and learn
to better navigate conflict in their relationship. Emma also utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy
(EFT) with couples who wish to create a more secure emotional bond by exploring underlying
emotions and attachment needs in their relationship.


Emma is a Marriage and Family Therapist and obtained her Master of Arts in Marriage and
Family Therapy at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.
